Tea on Tuesday

Standard

I thought I would get a head start on posting for tea, since I have missed the past couple of Tuesdays!!!

I am sipping a lovely Provence Rooisbos, with an orange flavored honey from my daughter. She discovered the honey in Charlottesville’s Whole Foods- it is delicious!

I usually have a locally harvested honey from Mud E Acres– I LOVE tea WITH my honey in the morning!!! But, if someone gifts me with honey – I will always be happy to use it!!! Mud-E Acres is also on Facebook@

I am excited about having bee hives on my property come spring. I will be attending a mini workshop on hives on the 16th- even tho’ I will not have to do anything with the hives here, except to admire them from afar (very far!!) I am very interested in what they are all about- the building and the upkeep, etc. “My”  hives will live here, courtesy of Mud-E Acres. I am excited!!!

Since today is all about tea- I found a few tea related photos-these two adorable little tea whimsies are created by local artist Deborah Sherwood

I have several of her creations hanging in my kitchen window! The first one is “tea for 2”- a teapot with 2 little dangling teacups!

The Great British Tea Party on Facebook is a great source of anything tea related!

Tea on Tuesday – The “Eyes” Have It…..

Standard

Cold, cold, cold here in The Gap….

So, I am sipping some Lady Grey, in my thrift store Denby pottery mug.  This is my mug rug, one of several I made for an online swap last year. I am working on a few more for belated Christmas gifts – sssshhhh…..!!!

IMG_0016 This one was made of batik scraps, just sewn together willy nilly, with a blue autumnal leaf fabric I dug out of my stash. I use this mug rug (and the others received in the swap), more than I thought I would – perfect size!!!

At a loss for subject matter for this Tuesday’s tea – I thought I would just share some random donkey photos- totally unrelated to tea- but…….

I was trying to get a really good photo of Finnegan’s blue eyes- but donkeys can be notoriously UNcooperative- and as you can see by my attempts- the little trickster was true to form!!! And, always very curious about that clicking camera thing!!!!

Soon, they got bored with the photo shoot, and went looking for trouble – the hose is always a good play toy!!!

Tea on Tuesday- Merry Christmas!!!!!

Standard

Wouldn’t this be a perfect place to have a Christmas tea, huddled down in front of a roaring fireplace, with snow falling softly outside…..??

If we lived in England, we could – here is the link

For me, today, my tea will be in a cozy chair, the whole house warmed by the basement wood stove, surrounded by family, and critters (mustn’t forget the critters!).

As I stare into the computer- I want to wish you ALL a very happy holiday, Merry Christmas, all the tea you can drink- and I hope I will “see” you all many times in the coming year.

Tea on Tuesday

Standard

I sit here,  sipping today’s tea,  sent to me from mi amiga, Teresa, from one of her many sojourns to France- -Fauchon Paris, a “tea for two” –fruit rouges et miel (red fruits and honey). Of course, my teacup is loaded down with local honey- I enjoy a little tea WITH my honey!!!

Gazing out the window, at the fog – another un-December-like day, and a week before Christmas.

The world seems to have taken on another hue.

The fog here covers a multitude of sins in the world…….or does it?

The chores of the day remain the same as every day, but the air we breath is a bit tainted, by sadness, the news bombarding us over the airwaves, and the grim reality of the world.

But, the donkeys still greet me with their squeaky voices- happy that breakfast is arriving, along with hugs and nuzzles. The dogs are ecstatic that they are going to the barn to eat poop and check out the scents of who visited/trespassed during the night!

I must get to the PO today, to mail a stack of our traditional anise flavored pizzelles to the son in San Francisco.

Then, finally, back to the basement studio, to sew up a couple of pillowcases for some children in Connecticut- to be filled with sweet dreams.

Made with love, and sewn with thread that hopefully, will magically ward off the nightmares that come to children in the dark of night.  Each of my pillowcases will have a tiny heart hidden inside, to let them know they are loved, by persons unknown.

If you have a few minutes today, and would like to make a pillowcase or two out of fabric from your stash- they need to be received by December 27th!!! Hurry, hurry!!!!!

Mail them to:

Quilters Corner

312 Danbury Rd

New Milford, Connecticut 06776

She hopes to collect 600 (!) pillowcases!!!!

Here is a link to a pillowcase tutorial – but it’s simple enough to use one of your own pillowcases for a pattern.

Drop by and join us for tea every Tuesday , I am here other days of the week, so feel free to come by anytime, leave a comment, become a follower, let me know you were here!!!

Don’t forget to visit Patty – for a list of other tea fanciers……..

Tea on Tuesday Tutorial

Standard

Well, winter is definitely here- still drinking tea- more times a day than usual!!! Everytime I go out to the barn, or just outside – a REALLY hot cup of tea is a MUST!!!

Altho’,  Sunday was beautiful and uncharacteristically warm, we are back to dreary, drizzly, cold weather.  Perfect for staying indoors.

Great indoor craft for today – make a tea towel- Christmas is only how many days away????? Easy gift!!

View from my porch last night- calming, yes……..????

View from the back deck early this morning, marred only by the sound of gunshots (hunting season….)

” Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly flow the days
Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers
Blossoming even as we gaze

Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly fly the years
One season following another
Laden with happiness and tears”
